The 2017 NEC® has been released and, with it, additional requirements that will affect how short-circuit protection is applied to equipment and machinery.  We have developed a NEW technical document, Code changes affecting short-circuit current ratings based on the 2017 NEC.

This document covers the most significant chapters, articles and parts of the 2017 NEC dealing with available short-circuit current and short-circuit current ratings (SCCRs).  After an in-depth introduction reviewing SCCR and its importance, the document walks through the sections of the 2017 NEC that are revised or new, and provides:

  • An explanation of its significance
  • Related NEC sections
  • What to look for to determine code compliance
  • A detailed explanation of agency standards or equipment markings that impact SCCR

The document closes with annexes containing products and resources from the Bussmann Division that help equipment designers, Authorities Having Jurisdiction and others involved in the specification, design, installation and approval of equipment subject to the 2017 NEC SCCR requirements.
