Survey: Less than Half of Machine Builders Use Auxiliary Performance Management Systems

The majority of machine builders are seeking 95% availability of their heavy rotating equipment, according to a new survey by ARC Advisory Group and Plant Services. Programmable logic controllers dominate automation, with 75% of respondents using this type of automation to protect against catastrophic failures, but distributed control systems are gaining in popularity. Less than 45% of the machine builders who were surveyed use an auxiliary performance management system.
