Ice gas, or methane hydrate, contains an energy that may be more powerful than any other fossil fuel, according to the Department of Energy. Methane hydrate deposits have been discovered in Japan, New Zealand, and the Arctic Ocean. The production of ice gas, however, is not likely to start for at least another decade.
