Digital technology drives efficiency gains for oilfield operators

Data-collection technologies such as sensors and telecommunications networks are among the most useful tools for oilfield operators to boost production and reduce costs, experts say. The technologies facilitate experimentation at shale sites to identify optimal fracturing volumes and can aid in equipment monitoring and maintenance, says Mukul Sharma of SAP.
